Dance |

This introductory dance class offers students the opportunity to explore movement and space, dance techniques and artistic styles of dance movements. In the dance room, students will learn how to improve their flexibility, learn basic dance movements of posture, balance, various dance positions and use of space. Students will develop their dance techniques and their knowledge of jazz, ballet and modern dance as well as hip-hop, expressive dance, show dance and contact improvisation. The dance instructor offers an exciting opportunity to learn how to connect body movements with music. |
Drama/Theatre Arts |

Length: 1 Semester

Students in Drama will learn the art and techniques of acting and drama production. They will learn about acting techniques, vocal projection, body movement, characterization and stage management. They will learn about the various roles of those in theatre production, both on stage and behind it. Students will perform at least one major school production to conclude the class as well as many smaller drama presentations throughout the semester. Students will also be exposed to elements of drama texts, theatre history and theatre styles. Students will be uncover a variety of acting styles and skills, together with exercises for the development of the body and voice. |
Instrumental Music |

The Instrumental Music class invites students who wish to play a musical instrument to learn how to play one. It warmly welcomes those who have some knowledge of an instrument and can read music to join the ensemble. The students learn as a group and progress together;the teacher offers group or individual instruction as needed. Students in Instrumental Music will perform at school functions. |
Chorus/Concert Choir |
Grade: 9-12
Length: 1 Semester or 1 Year
Credit: 0.5
Chorus or Concert Choir instructs students in vocal and choral technique and teaches them how to read a choral music score. Students learn a variety of music and participate in several performances. They learn about the production of sounds, breathing techniques and how vocal artists use their voice as an instrument. This class offers an exciting opportunity to share the joy of making beautiful music together. |
