Physical Education

Physical Education Goals:

At each grade level, the goals are to educate the whole child (in spirit, mind, and body) and to teach the students a lifelong appreciation for physical fitness, health, and sport. We believe that a physically educated person has learned skills necessary to perform a variety of physical activities, is physically fit, does participate regularly in physical activity, and values physical activity and its contribution to a healthy lifestyle.

All students from pre-school through fifth grade have physical education three times a week. All lessons have a fitness component. Students learn locomotor skills, gross motor and fine motor skills, figness games, body awareness activities, balance activities, rules, strategies and appropriate behaviors for sports, games, and activities. Swimming is an integral and required part of the physical education program.
