The grade five language arts programs pursues the same objectives initially established in grade four, while studying grammar in more detail and discovering additional literary genres for the students to explore. The Everyday Math Program introduces specific topics in grade 5 including Algebra Concepts and Skills, Volume and Probability, Ratios, and Rates. The curriculum is wide-ranging and emphasizes an interactive discovery-based approach to learning. A variety of assessment devices are employed, including web-based inquiries, portfolios, presentations and projects. Students use the scientific method to organize their activities. Students are encouraged to analyze various materials and media, develop strong geographical skills, enhance their research and writing skills in the social studies classes.
