Science

Science Goals:

Students will study various aspects of science and discovery using the Discover the Wonder program. Through this program they will study habitats such as deserts and forests, gardening, shelter, moving, sounds and protecting the earth. They will do a number of projects and cover pages, including dioramas, animal footprints, comparison of deserts and forests, creating musical instruments and building shelters. They will also do a science fair project, investigate many things through a microscope and magnifying glass, and do a number of experiments where they have to use the scientific process and make some graphs.

Students who successfully complete the Grade Three Science program will be able to:

• Demonstrate a basic knowledge of the scientific process (ie) problem, material, procedure, etc.
• Be able to use a microscope to see and identify small things
• Demonstrate the skills and knowledge to report on their finding in words and pictures
• Be able to compare and analyze things and then to graph their findings
